Formats

While people might mistakenly write about "HTML programming" or "CGI programming", these aren't programming languages at all. They are really formats or specifications (sometimes approved, sometimes just proposed.) These formats are programming-language and software independent and provide standards that allow interactive designers to accomplish the same thing with different programming languages, operating systems, web servers and web browsers.
