Full Threading Links Messages into Reply Chains
HyperThread goes beyond a simple "guestbook" by linking message replies into "chains" of posts. When your users read through your discussion board, they can follow the progression of the 'conversation' by following the links at the bottom of each message to "earlier" and "later" posts.
Areas Show Date of Newest Posting and Total Number of Messages
Individual areas display the date of the newest posting and the total number of messages in that area. This is not just helpful information -- it is critical to keeping users informed about, and interested in, your discussion groups.
Integrated Keyword Search Engine to Find Messages by Topic, Subject or Author
HyperThread technology includes the ability (for users or administrators) to search the HyperThread databases for specific keywords. This enables you to find a specific topic, author or even comment. No extra charge, it's part of the standard package!
Support for HTML Tags in Messages (while blocking harmful Java, Form and Frame calls)
Discussion posts can include images, HTML formatting or other enhancements while still being protected from more harmful tags. You can even customize the system with HTML elements that you want filtered out.
Urlification
Any unanchored absolute http url in the body of a message is automatically anchored when displayed within HyperThread. Already anchored urls are left alone.
Online Web-based, Password-protected Control Panels Make Administration Easy
Even novice webmasters can easily administer a HyperThread through password-protected, point-and-click maintenance panels. Create areas, delete areas, edit or delete messages individually or through fast "bulk action" commands.
Moderated Mode
This is an option (turned off by default) to make all new postings private (only visible by the administrator). The Administrator can pick and choose which messages he/she wants to be viewable by the public. (When this feature is turned off, all new messages are viewable by the public).
Buttons and Layouts Contained in External Files for Easy Customization
Customize the look of your HyperThread -- modify the simple HTML templates, replace the buttons with new graphics and build the look you want! No two HyperThreads ever look quite alike! You can even have different looks for each of your discussion groups.
Supports Limitless Number of Conferences and Messages
HyperThread is very durable and can support an unlimited number of areas and messages. It is even available utilizing a variety of database formats for high-volume websites (and more formats are being added all the time).
ODBC Database Connectivity
HyperThread NT will support any database technology that includes ODBC
connectivity, including built-in support for mini-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server,
and Oracle version 7 or 8.
Self-Installing
HyperThread comes with a simple installation utility that will take you through the required steps for getting it up and running on your system.
Cross-Platform Compatible
HyperThread is written in the popular Perl programming language and runs on both Windows NT and UNIX webservers. Check the system requirements to see if it will run on your specific system.
