FAQ

These are the technical specifications to run Hyperthread version 3+ on your UNIX or Windows NT webserver. If you are unsure whether your webserver meets these requirements, please contact your system administrator.

Requirements for UNIX

  • The HyperThread discussion system has been tested on the following systems:

    BSDI (kernel versions #2 - #4)
    Linux (kernels 1.2.9 - 1.2.13)
    SunOS/Solaris
    Irix

  • It should work, however, on all Unix systems.

  • Perl5 is required for the HyperThread system to function and, if needed, the NDBM_File.pm package should be required. (If your Perl5 defaults to NDBM then don't worry about it.) If the package needs to be explicitly required, add the requirement to the radthread-headers.pl file as well as the init.pl script.

Requirements for Windows NT

Hyperthread for Windows NT has been tested on a Windows NT version 4.0 system running IIS 2.0 and IIS 4.0. (It is assumed that IIS 3.0 will be compliant with either version 2.0 or 4.0, and so should also work.)

  • Perl 5 interpreter is required for Hyperthread to work. We tested the product using Active State's perl 5.003 for Win32 operating systems. Although other Perl for windows versions may work, we recommend Active State's product as it has proven to be very compatible with Perl for Unix (which Hyperthread was first designed for). Active State's Perl interpreter is free and can be downloaded from their website - http://www.ActiveState.com/.
