First deployed in November of 1995, HyperThread has gone through numerous revisions, reworks and improvements.

HyperThread Version History

• Version 3.7 (08/20/99): (NT only) - Added ODBC database connectivity.

• Version 3.5 (10/26/98): added "urlification" feature (any unanchored absolute http url in the body of a message is anchored when displayed); changed naming of "expired" and "un-expired" messages to "public" and "private" messages; added "moderated mode" (option to make all new message postings only visible by the administrator, giving him/her the ability to decide which messages are made public); added multi-template system (each discussion group can have separate layouts/graphics).

• Version 3.4 (08/11/98): added registration/trialware functionality.

• Version 3.3 (04/21/98): addition of self-installer, making installation much easier for the customer.

• Version 3.2 (09/17/97): further streamlining of indexing code, improving overall speed.

• Version 3.1 (07/31/97): added archiving feature to allow the database structure to be written to a set of html files.

• Version 3.0 (02/28/97): redesign of indexing code for faster thread building; logic change on "previous" and "next" button to allow complete area browsing.

• Version 2.2 (10/03/96): integration of date of last post and total number of messages to conference index screen; layout information moved to external file; support for AMS, LinkTrakker and other CGI systems integrated with system; optional "Twit Filter" to *censor* unacceptable language integrated with main program.

• Version 2.1 (09/11/96): improved speed performance of message handling; minor interface changes.

• Version 2.0 (09/04/96): complete system rewrite to more robust DBM message format, rework of keyword search engine for speed and maximum messages to return.

• Version 1.4 (07/08/96): batch delete mode added to administration panels, some tag filtering enabled (to prevent hostile Java, JavaScript, frames and forms calls).

• Version 1.3 (02/27/96): added reply message quoting; improved layout of administration panels; added "active/inactive" button logic.

• Version 1.1 (01/18/96): initial release of public product, integration of keyword search engine.

• Version 1.0 (11/12/95): experimental alpha version (never publicly released).
