1. The installation program said it completed successfully, but I
cannot find the files where they should be:
There are a few problems that could have caused the files to not get
copied correctly. 1) Make sure you specified the correct absolute pathname for the directory in question. You can use your telnet software's scrollbar to scroll up to answer you provided. 2) Make sure you have the necessary permissions to write files to the specified directory.
2. The installation program said it completed successfully, but when I go to the url I specified, I get a 'file not found' error.
Make sure you specified the correct url which corresponds to the
directory where the files were installed. Make sure the files were
actually installed without error.
3. I completed the installation, and when I load up the CGI pages
(report or admin panel), all of the images appear broken.
Make sure you specified the correct url and directory for the image
files. This directory cannot be a cgi-bin directory. It must be a normal web-readable directory.
4. The installation process completed, but the register.pl program
never ran.
You can run the register.pl script manually, after completing the
installation. Just issue the command 'perl register.pl' from the
linktrakker installation directory. If the default 'perl' location differs from the one you will use for LinkTrakker, make sure you specify that perl version instead of the default.
5. The installation completed, but when I try to load the report or
administrator page, I get an error which says the software has expired.
The register.pl program creates two files which are required for
LinkTrakker to run, 1) esize.dat and 2) registration.key - these files
MUST be present in the LinkTrakker CGI directory in order for the software to function. Note that the trialware software will expire after 2 weeks time. You cannot re-install the software to bypass this. You must purchase LinkTrakker in order to continue usage.
