LinkTrakker reports are generated utilizing the report script located in the secure sub-directory of the location you installed the software to, with either a /report.cgi extension for UNIX or a /report.pl extension for Windows NT.

For example, if you have a UNIX webserver and installed your copy of LinkTrakker in an /lt subdirectory of your cgi-bin directory, your admin panel would be located at:

/cgi-bin/lt/secure/report.cgi

The report script is kept in separate directory so that you can password protect that directory (with .htaccess or other methods) from public access. Please note that this is a change since LinkTrakker 3.5 (older versions store their report panel directly in the LinkTrakker directory).

The reports panel is fairly straight-forward. To generate a report, you select the page you want to analyze, the report type and a date filter.

The list of pages should look familiar (they are the names you gave each entry in the admin panel).

The date filter allows you to pick a calendar date and a sorting method:

  • Encountered after will generate a report that contains data collected from all sites that have sent at least one person to your site since the selected date

  • Verified after will generate a report that contains data collected from all sites that have sent their first visitor since the selected date (this mode is only relevant to "Verified Links")

There are five types of reports than can be generated, each based upon the verification status of the incoming links:
  • "All Reports" (which does each of the four main link reports)

  • "Verified" (which includes only those sites with a verified link to yours)

  • "Unverified" (which includes sites who's page didn't include a non-dynamic link)

  • "Internal" (which includes only links internal to your own website)

  • "Unreachable" (which includes links not accessible by the verification spider)
