Users Guide - Admin Panel
Finding the Admin panel
The admin panel will be located at the base url for CGI scripts, which you defined during the installation, with either a /admin.cgi extension for UNIX or a /admin.pl extension for Windows NT.
For example, if you have a UNIX webserver and installed your copy of LinkTrakker in an /lt subdirectory of your cgi-bin directory, your admin panel would be located at:
/cgi-bin/lt/admin.cgi
The Administrator's panel requires a username and password for access.
When installed, these are set to the default values of:
Username: Admin
Password: ChangeMe
We Highly recommend that you change your access information once you have logged in.
Using the Admin panel
Once you've accessed the admin panel, you will notice an entry box called site-key with an 'add' button next to it. To add new entries you must first provide a site keyword (used to name the database for that site page). You can choose whatever keyword you want but it is recommended that you use only lowercase keywords containing letters, digits and the underscore character '_'. Any spaces you use will be converted to underscore characters.
After pressing the "add" button, you will be asked for three pieces of information: site title, urls to track, and relative pathname.
Title
The site title is the name of this page when displayed in the reports. This can be anything you like ... for example, "Entry Page" or "Press Releases".
URLs to be tracked
This should contain the list of URLs for this page in all their forms. There may be just one, or there may be several which are valid. For example, you may be accessing this site as http://www.radiation.com/, http://www.radiation.com/index.html, or http://radiation.com/, etc. You should enter every possible URL you can think of for this page as this is the list of URLs that LinkTrakker uses to determine where track results.
Relative Pathname
This field can be ignored if you are using the JavaScript collection method. If you are using the older SSI method, you must provide the appropriate relative pathname for tracking. Please see the using SSI page for more information.
