Email Mailing List Management - RadBot
Users Guide - The Basics
Finding the Control Panel
You will find the control panel for Radbot at the url corresponding to the directory that you installed Radbot to with a file name of 'controls.cgi'. For example:
http://www.yoursite.com/cgi-bin/
radbot/controls.cgi
Subscriber Functions
Adding Subscribers
On the control panel, you will three text boxes. In the upper left is a box with a 'Filter' button next to it. Below that is a long box that will contain the list of subscribers, and to the right is a box with an 'add' button next to it. It's the 'add' box that allows you to add subscribers.
To add a subscriber to your list, simply type in the email address of the new subscriber, then click the 'add' button.
You will now be on a page that asks for the subscriber's signup date (which defaults to the current date) and an expire date (which defaults to one month later). Adjust these dates as you see fit and click the 'save changes' button.
When the page reloads, you will be on the main page of the controls panel. If you look in the subscriber list box, you will notice that the new address has been added.
Deleting Subscribers
To delete a subscriber, first select that subscriber in the subscriber list, then click the 'Unsubscribe' button. Caution! You will not be prompted about the deletion, once you click delete, that subscriber will be removed from the list.
The 'Show' Button
Selecting a subscriber and clicking the 'Show' button will display that subscriber's information (email address, signup date and expire date) in the upper portion of the control panel.
Editing Subscribers
You can change a subscriber's expire date by clicking the 'Edit' button. You will be brought to a page with that subscriber's email address, signup date and expire date displayed. There will also be an pull-down box displaying a new expire date (this defaults to one month after the current expire date). Adjust this to whatever date you would like and click the 'save changes' button. You will now be brought to the main control panel page, and the subscriber will have a new expire date (assuming, of course, you changed the date).
Generating Mail
To generate mail, first click the 'Generate Outgoing Mail' button. This will bring you to the mail generation page. This is pretty similar to regular email with the exception of who the email goes out to.
You now should choose who will receive the email, the administrator or the list. To choose click either the 'Administrator' or the list name check boxes.
Next, enter the subject line of your email. This will be what appears as the subject line in the email your recipient receives. Tip: A good subject line will help get your email read. Enter this line in the 'Subject line of your mail' text box.
Now, enter the body of your mail in the 'Contents of your Mail:' box. This is obviously what will appear in the body of the email you send out. The message should be text only (html tags are fine, but whether or not they are processed depends on the recipients email software), and there is effectively no limit to the size of the message. Please note that it is possible for your message to be too large for your servers to handle, but again, Radbot has no such limitation. To send the mail, click the 'Send Mail' button.
