Random Image Displayer - Randomizer
Installation Guide

RANDOMIZER:

Features
System Requirements
Installation
Users Guide
Download

Installing Randomizer is as easy as uploading the file and decompressing it for both Unix and Windows NT. We have, nonetheless, included complete instructions for both systems.

Unix instructions

First you should ftp the file you downloaded from Radiation to a cgi directory on your server. Next you'll need to telnet into that (CGI) directory. Now un-gzip the file. To do this type the following command:

gzip -d [filename]

for example:

gzip -d randomizerUNIX.tar.gz

The file will now be un-gzipped. The file name will reflect this change by dropping the .gz extension. The next step is to untar the file. Do this by entering:

tar xvf [filename]

for example:

tar xvf randomize-1.0.tar

The file will now untar and create the necessary files. You should notice that "random_image.cgi", "register.txt" and "license.txt" were all created. If not, you will need to visit http://www.radiation.com and download a complete copy of the archive from us. You should make sure random_image.cgi is executable. If you're not sure, check with your system administrator. Now just check random_image.cgi for the correct location of your copy of perl (you'll find that information on line 1 of the script). If not, edit the location using a Unix text editor. Pico is often found on Unix machines. To edit a script using pico enter the following command:

pico random_image.cgi

change line 1 to correspond to your server's location of perl. Then hit the control button and 'x' to exit. Pico will ask you if you want save before actually exiting. Enter 'y' and hit enter to save.

Randomizer should now be installed.

Window NT instructions

Unzip the files and put them in a cgi directory. Then put the random_image.pl file in a directory with script execution access.

You will also need to make sure the random_image.pl script has the correct location of perl. The default location is /usr/local/bin/perl. You will find this on line one of random_image.pl.
